PROCEDURAL REALISTIC TREE R&D
A summary of a 2-month project I was busy with during my internship at EA. The goal of the project was to create a setup capable of generating believable-looking trees of various families with all the necessary LODs and textures. I ended up using a biological approach based on photosynthesis, hormones, sunlight and strive for survival when trees compete for the resources and monitor their own energy balance.
The project was a part of my talk at Siggraph "Believability in Procedural Modeling".
